Compte-rendu conférence Future of Work - LVMH - The Camp (English)
In the past, the best talent wanted to join the most prestigious companies. Today, they want to be challenged, they need constant stimulation, they fear boredom more than anything else. As a freelancer, they can choose their clients, their schedule, etc. The values of craftsmanship are essential. “If the job is not standardised, if you can be creative and have autonomy, then you can leave unique traces of you in your work.” It all relates to the search of meaning.
Today’s self-employed people are clearly not the same as before. They were clerks or lawyers, belonging to regulated professions. Today, a host of new professions have joined their ranks: computer scientists, developers, data scientists, even artistic professions, illustrators who left their agencies, designers, etc. It is a very fast growing market: + 100% growth since 2008 in France.
The freelancers are also changing the way we all work in companies. Collaborative tools are entering the corporate world: Trello, Slack, Dropbox, Skype, Google Drive, Workplace by Facebook, Hangout, WeTransfer, GitHub, etc.
